Natural Products to Stop Balding and Reverse Hair Loss

There is just no way around it. Hair loss is inevitable. While you cannot prevent your hair from thinning, you can reduce the amount of hair you lose and you don't have to use risky medications in order to do it. You can use natural treatments to stop balding and stimulate hair growth. It is just important to make sure you are using the right remedy for your particular type of hair loss.

Find Out Why Your Hair is Thinning
In order to effectively stop balding, you must first understand why you are losing your hair. Thinning hair can be a symptom of a medical condition such as lupus, thyroid problems, anemia, hormonal fluctuations, or vitamin deficiencies. Discuss your symptoms with your physician. If you find out that you do have a health issue, focus on getting it treated. This can cause your hair to grow back.

Hair Growth Shampoos
There are shampoos which are made especially to stop balding and promote hair growth. Most of these products are made from natural ingredients. Look for shampoos containing vitamins and herbs such as vitamin B and rosemary. This is a great way to nourish your strands by providing them with the nutrients they need in order to grow.

Hair Growth Vitamins
Another way to stop balding is to make sure you are getting enough vitamins. Vitamin A helps keep the scalp healthy and prevents dandruff, which can cause hair loss. This vitamin also regulates the production of sebum, a natural oil which stimulates hair growth.

Vitamins B, C, and E are also good for the hair.

Herbs Which Help to Stop Balding
You can also reverse hair loss by taking certain herbal remedies. Saw palmetto and green tea reduce the production of the hormone which causes male or (female) pattern baldness

It is very important for you to begin treatment for your hair loss as soon as you notice that your strands are thinning. This will significantly increase your chances of getting your strands to grow back. If the follicles sit there for too long without strands, the follicles will lose their ability to function and the hair loss will become permanent. Learn more about choosing an effective treatment to stop balding and regrow hair.

Biotin and Hair Loss - How to Stop Balding

Many experts, including dermatologists, recommend Biotin as a treatment for hair loss. One of the B complex of vitamins, Biotin or vitamin B-7 is found in such foods as eggs, liver, soy beans, walnuts, milk, cheese, butter, brewer's yeast and others. It contributes to the health and beauty of skin, hair and nails. Researchers recommend 2 mg of Biotin daily to maintain healthy hair and prevent losing it. However in general Biotin alone cannot cure all balding but will provide relief where hair loss is the result of a Biotin deficiency. It is also well to note at this point that a Biotin deficiency is very rare as the vitamin is readily available and can be manufactured in the body. Medical experts suggest that it be used in conjunction with other B vitamins.

It is the course of wisdom to consult your dermatologist for further education on Biotin to determine the optimum level for you. Also if you are taking prescription medication, check that there is no conflict with the Biotin.

As was just mentioned, a Biotin deficiency is almost never the root cause or the only cause of losing hair. In fact in 95% of all cases of hair loss, hereditary and hormonal factors play the major role. How do these work to cause balding?

The hormone testosterone interacts with certain enzymes to produce DHT. DHT can have an adverse effect on the hair follicles. In fact it can cause a progressive degeneration of the follicles causing them to shrink and cease producing hair growth. When the natural daily loss of hair of 100-150 strands a day exceeds the growth of new hair then a net decrease in the amount of hair occurs. Hair loss now becomes a serious concern for you.

Notice that everyone has testosterone in their body. But not everyone suffers baldness. Why? It's because only some people have this genetic predisposition for DHT to damage their hair follicles. Yes, balding of this type is hereditary. That means if some in your family are balding you are a possible candidate. And this is true whether the balding is on your mother's side or your father's side. Biotin alone cannot correct this type of hair loss. So what is needed?

Provillus For Men and Provillus For Women are two well known products specially formulated for each gender. This product addresses the problem of how to stop balding by using a double barrelled approach. One part of Provillus is a topical liquid that is worked into the scalp to help repair the damaged follicles and stimulate the regrowth of hair. The other part of the treatment is a dietary supplement tablet that contains several hair growth nutrients, including Biotin. This powerful combination along with the addition of Azelaic Acid produces significant results in stopping balding and promoting hair regrowth.

Another important factor is that the active ingredient in Provillus is the FDA approved Minoxidil which blocks the DHT, preventing follicle damage and allowing the growth of hair.

One prescription hair loss drug in particular has been linked to many sexual side effects in men. Even some over-the-counter baldnes solutions cause headache, muscle soreness, and sleeplessness.

Stop Baldness - Myths and Facts

There are many myths about how to stop baldness in women. There is quite a gap between the medical facts and the corporations trying to sell products they claim are effective. Most myths on how to stop baldness were started by companies like the one on the left trying to make some money. Here are some common misconceptions about how to stop baldness in women that are sold off as truths when hair restoration products come on the market.

Myth 1: You can stop baldness by increasing blood flow to the scalp

This is a popular way to advertise scalp creams and massagers that claim to stop baldness by bringing more blood flow to hairless regions. You can hang upside down as long as you want, but it won't help the hair grow back.

Myth 2: Removing hair mites will stop hair loss

There are many shampoos out there that claim they remove demodex hair mites which cause balding. While this hair mite does actually exist, it could not possibly cause balding because it is prevalent in most human beings and, if it did induce hair loss, most of the population wouldn't have any hair!

Myth 3: Increasing the amount of hair follicles in your scalp will stop baldness

A person is born with as many hair follicles as they will ever have. There are absolutely no drugs that can change this, same as you cannot change how many eggs are in your ovaries when you are born.

Myth 4: Vitamins and minerals can stop baldness

While deficiencies of certain nutrients can cause hair to thin, it cannot actually cause baldness. A proper diet will help with thick, luscious tresses, but the lack of one will not make all your hair fall out.

Myth 5: You can stop baldness by unclogging hair follicles

There are some treatments and shampoos that claim hair follicles get clogged which causes balding and that they need to be unplugged with their special formula. Plugged hair follicles can actually happen, although rarely, and if they do the worst damage that can occur is an ingrown hair.

Myth 6: Baldness is caused by stress

This is my personal favourite. While the image of a woman with large, red eyes with bags under them clutching bunches of hair she has just ripped out of her head from intense stress does seem plausible, it is not. It is just an over exaggeration.

Myth 7: Normal hair products cause baldness

There are some shampoos, conditioners and other hair products available that claim to not damage the roots of your hair and therefore, by using them, you can stop baldness. While hair products will damage hair on the outside, they cannot actually damage the root or have any effect on baldness. The most that a change in hair products can do is give your hair a more healthy appearance, but it will not make you have more of it.

Myth 8: There are miracle cures to stop baldness

Unfortunately, there is no cure. There are things that can help temporarily as well as actions that can prevent hair loss in the future, but there is no miracle pill or cream (not even Rogaine, which works but not on everyone) that will put an end to baldness.

Companies will always make up facts to play on their customers' needs. Next time you see an advertisement that claims it has the one, true, and certified solution to stop baldness, you will know the difference between marketing and reality.

How to Stop Balding in Men (Or Women)

Balding in men is exceedingly common. It is estimated that somewhere around 4 in 7 men will experience some form of balding in their life. Therefore for a huge number of men want to know the answer to the question of how to stop balding. The same applies to women with thinning hair.

There's a range of causes of baldness in men and in women. The vast majority of causes of thinning hair in men is what is known technically as androgenetic alopecia, or what everyone knows as male pattern baldness. Male pattern baldness is a condition inherited by a man from others in his family who came before him. Equally the same applies to female pattern baldness however this is not as common in women as it is in men.

The method by which male pattern baldness operates to cause thinning hair in men is now well known. It relates to an oversupply of the male hormone DHT (dihydrotestosterone) which is derived from the male sex hormone testosterone. Men with pattern baldness have increased supplies of DHT and this attaches to their hair follicles on the head causing them to shrink, shrivel, thin and die prematurely. Whilst all hair dies it is normally replace by more healthy hair but for men or women with pattern baldness this supply of replacement hairs is inadequate. This leads to a gradual thinning of the hair on the front, top and sometimes the sides of the head leading to a degree of balding.

The answer to the question of how to treat baldness in men or women with pattern baldness is actually found in providing optimum hair nutrition. The reason that DHT slowly strangles the hair follicle is that it starts to limit the ability of the follicle to take up essential nutrients. Hair is like other organs of our body and requires an optimal supply of nutrition to be healthy and to look good. Hair with inadequate levels of nutrients is unhealthy and dying hair.

There are 2 products approved by the FDA as a hair loss treatment for men to prevent baldness. One of these is finasteride marketed as Propecia and the other is minoxidil marketed under a range of different names. Minoxidil is the only hair loss treatment that is recommended by the FDA for use as a balding treatment in women.

Minoxidil can be used as a balding treatment for men at either a 2% solution or a 5% solution but for women the FDA only recommend a 2% solution. Studies have clearly shown that minoxidil works to stop baldness in some men and women however it does not work for everybody. There is no hair loss product that works for everybody.

If you're looking to find out how to stop balding you have 2 options for approved products if you're a man and one option if you're a woman. Both men and women can use minoxidil. Minoxidil was originally intended as a blood pressure treatment but it was found that subjects in studies demonstrated increased growth of hair when using minoxidil. It is not fully understood how minoxidil works to increase growth however it is suspected that it increases the supply of blood to the follicle allowing the follicle to absorb higher levels of nutrients.

Minoxidil on its own has been shown to work to stop balding in men and women. However if minoxidil works to improve the ability of the follicle to absorb nutrients then it would make sense that supplying a range of nutrients essential to hair health is also a big part of the equation and one clever company now supplies a proprietary product combining the use of minoxidil with a wide range of essential hair nutrients and one natural ingredient which has also been shown to limit the effects of DHT.
